Hot, Hot, Hot!

This week it has been unbearably hot & humid here. The kind of weather where you walk outside and instantly start to sweat. YUCK! Even so, the kids still want to be outside. So, we found several water activities to cool us off!

Here are some pictures from our week...

Monday we started out with a little pool and sprinkler

Wednesday we had fun on the slip n' slide!

Thursday we headed to the wading pool.
The boys loved splashing & jumping through the fountains.

Hope you stayed cool this week!

Garage Sale

Wow! We had a super day today for our neighborhood garage sales! It was a little hot and humid, but at least we didn't get rained out. I didn't realize until all the junk (oops, I mean treasures) were out on tables and hangers, how much we actually had. I took some great advice from my friend Katie about her garage sale do's and some of her pet peeves and it really payed off. (If you want to check out those things, click on the words that are underlined and in italics.)

The most important thing I learned was it really helps to spend a little time and effort tagging, folding and hanging items. It seemed like a pain this past week, when every other second one of my trouble makers were peeling tags off things, having hanger sword fights and dragging toys I wanted to sell to every corner of the house, but I am glad I did it. Also, when things are displayed neatly, the shoppers were less likely to rummage and throw things everywhere, like I have seen at other sales.

Even though it was fun, after it was over and things were packed away and taken to the Salvation Army, I breathed a HUGE sigh of relief. Oh, and having a helper is great too! Thanks Mom!

Here are some pictures that I posted on Craigslist of some of our stuff.

Everything on these 2 tables sold, except for a couple dozen things.

I hung up some of the nicer things, and most sold, except for a few of the winter outfits. Apparently, people weren't thinking about winter time since it was 90 degrees today!
Thanks to Lee and my Dad, Carter and Hudson had a wonderful time at the zoo today... and they were out of the way :)

Summertime Fun

Sorry for the lack of posts lately!

We have been enjoying our summer so far with LOTS of time outside! The boys already have farmers tans!

Here are a few pictures of what we have been up to:

Picnic lunches on the deck. They had their mouths full, but were trying to say "Cheese".

Carter and the bird house he painted

Hudson helping Daddy mow the lawn

Hudson LOVES the slide. When he is done he sweetly says "again"!

Carter exploring at the park

Digging beside the house, looking for you guessed it... BUGS!

I rarely get a smile (in a photo) from Hudson.
I LOVE this picture!

Eventful Day

We had quite the day at our house today!
My Dad is here this week helping me out while I made doctors appointments and so I can get a few extra things done while he is playing with the boys. Today we headed to the boys' pediatricians office for a double appointment. Carter needed his 4 yr check up and also to get Hudson's 18 month shots that he didn't because he was really sick at the time. Everything went well! Carter is 42 lbs. and 42 inches tall. Hudson is 28 lbs. and got 2 shots, but only cried for about 20 seconds. Next on the list of to-do's was to clean out the garage (my garage sale is coming up soon). Everything was going great until I walked inside for 1 minute and I hear Carter scream bloody murder. He is bleeding from his mouth down his shirt and his top lip starts swelling immediately. We got his mouth to stop bleeding, but it was pretty bad. He had bit deep into the inside of his top lip in a v-shape, and skinned off a layer on the outside of his lip. Of course I don't do well in medical / bleeding / crisis situations... So, I called my neighbor lady who is a wonderful nurse. She came right over and said she would take him to the Urgent Care in just in case. Long story short, he didn't need stitches or anything, just ice and some Tylenol. He is pretty much back to normal tonight and told me it just hurts when he eats and drinks.
Lastly, my other nice neighbor lady mentioned that she was starting a two night a week boot camp! Hmmm... I just needed a little push and she talked me into it!
I am happy to say that I survived the first session. Hopefully the next 10 weeks will lead to a healthier me and a few dropped pounds!!
